Department Store Suffers Water Damage
Major Water Spill in the Restrooms
When we say our team can handle any sized water damage situation, we mean it. That was true for the local Nordstrom in Glendale, California. We got a call from mall management explaining that an old pipe had busted, and they had their plumbers stop the leak, but there was an inch of water all throughout the restroom area. As soon as our office received the call, we arrived at the department store immediately.
Our crew chief inspected the damage and explained to the mall manager on duty that it was a good thing they called when they did. Any more time and the water would have begun to absorb into the walls and possibly invade the first floor of the luxury store. This could have been a disaster, damaging inventory and losing sales.
Acting Fast and By the Book
After inspecting the damage, documenting it with photos, as well as measuring and sketching the affected areas, the rest of our certified water damage experts got to work. They extracted all the excess water before it became stale and dangerous. Once that was done, they began checking the walls around the area to confirm there was no further absorption happening. They also began to extract the carpet found outside the hallway. Once the techs got as much as they possibly could with professional extraction equipment, they strategically placed our commercial fans in place.
Completely Dry in Less Than a Week
It took 5 days for the hallway to completely dry, but business was as usual thanks to SERVPRO® of Central Glendale’s team. Mall management was relieved that they did not have to close at all (restrooms were just out of order), saving the company thousands of dollars in revenue. All in a day’s work!
